The 8.9 earthquake this morning was centered about 80 miles east of Japan.
A few days ago, Japan was hit with a 7.2 earthquake. A 7.2 quake has 80 or 90 times less energy than an 8.9 quake. As of 3 a.m., there were at least 12 aftershocks following the earthquake, with the highest aftershocks measuring 7.1 and 6.8.
The greater concern is the tsunami that was triggered by the quake. Warnings have been issued as far as the Hawaiian Islands and the west coast. The Red Cross is saying Tsunami may wash over Pacific islands. Waves are reported being over 30feet.
This will hurt Japan's economy a good bit. and prolly the USAs too. the stock market has dropped 2% in the last 3hrs. :(.
