    Arianrhod's knight of Intelligence.

    Copy/pasted from Oberon forums :D

    Spoiler:
Just realized I haven't posted my intro , thought I should do that....

My name is Scott, I'm 165, live in PA. I'm a geek, and proud >:U, and right now am looking at going to CMU to get multiple computer degrees. I discovered Mabi about 2 years ago, fell in love with it, met up with Kene and Laz, and the fun just kept going up.

In my free time, I tend to do stupid stuff with fire, for example, last weekend i lit off some Thermite (google it), I have also been know to play with fireworks, campfires, and I custom built an air-powered cannon out of PVC pipe. Its got enough power to launch a tennis ball into the cloud layer, or send a marble through a 2 foot tree ^^. My motto is "If its not big and on fire, it will be... soon"

Thats pretty much it. Oh, and I have a medical issue. If you're not interested, stop reading now.

Well, it all started (I guess) when I was 3 (waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in '98.) My mom and I were outside at night, the bugs were noisy, and she asked me if I could hear them. I said "No". She thought this was odd, and took me in for a hearing test. It showed I had a mild (and supposedly stable) hearing loss. So the fitted me with Hearing Aids and sent me on my way. And all was good for ten years. Then, in the fall of '08, my voice became lower and raspy (as happens to all guys, but…) my speech started slurring. My parents thought I was just being lazy. They told me to "Enunciate!". However, a few months later (mid December) my dad noticed I couldn't hear as well. So they took me in again and found my loss had gone from mild to Severe, and I had lost the ability to hear some high pitch sounds. They subjected me to an MRI, a few blood tests, couldn't find anything, so they adjusted my aids and sent me on my way. Again. One month later, (January '09) My dad noticed I wasn't using my left hand very much, and it seemed to be curled into an odd position. He also noticed I was off balance on my left leg. So they took me into the hospital, where they admitted me for 2 days, to run a battery of tests, such as:

    1. An MRI at 3 AM (lasted till 6 AM)
    2. dozens of blood tests
    3. neurological exams
    4. EKG
    5. Eye Exam
    6. Horrible Hospital food

And I was discharged with no definitive answer.

They asked me to do an EMG. They called it, and I quote: "The EMG needle test records muscle activity at rest and during movement. Your child may feel some mild discomfort, but no sharp pain." So I go into this test, thinking no big deal, but then I find out the truth.

IT FUCKING HURTS! They took a 3 inch (7.5 CM) needle, put electricity through it, and jammed it into my muscles. Then they WIGGLED IT, shocked me, and then asked me to MOVE THE MUSCLE as hard as I could, with the needle in there! 21 Different muscles, from my face to my foot, they did this! I'm pretty sure I'm now resistant to torture.

They began to look at diseases which put my life expectancy at 1-5 years. Very nasty stuff. There was lots of tension in the house from February to March. My condition worsened daily. Mid march, they decided to call me in to a special Joint meeting of neurologists, who would look at me, and suggest tests. They came up with (and I later endured through)

    1. An MRI at 4 AM (lasted till 7:30 AM)
    2. dozens of blood tests
    3. neurological exams
    4. EKG
    5. Eye Exam
    6. EMG (again!)
    7. Ultrasound
    8. Spinal Tap
    9. Horrible Hospital food

They discharged me again, with no answer. As the months went on, I gradually improved due to some unknown cause. Between then and now I was subjected to:

    1. 3 more MRI's
    2. ANOTHER EMG (oh… my… god….)
    3. More genetic testing than any previous patient (I hold the world record, I believe)
    4. Urine tests
    5. Monthly checkups
    6. Specialist visits
    7. Ultrasounds
    8. Lots of waiting

Today, they still do not know what's wrong with me, I suspect they will never know.

I have about 75% use of my left leg, and about 60% use of left Hand. Can't pick anything up with it. In fact, I am typing with only right hand right now. Right side completely unaffected.

My speech is 85-90% intelligible, up from the 50% it was.

    That’s pretty much it.

Oh, and my mental ability is unaffected, but then again, my dad would say I never had any.

Unth Hee Mya bee write. :D

For some reason, I can't help but feel that the signature is way too big. idk if there's any rules regarding signature size, but it's bothering me honestly.

Side comment pushed aside, it's good to have you in the guild! Even though you've been here for a while now lol. We just need Anna to change your member status on the forums.

If it bothers you, have Noodle enable HTML on the forums, and I'll make a JavaScript hide bar.
