    Weaving or Refining?

Post by Aerodith on Sun Mar 13, 2011 8:24 pm

Okay so I'm planning to be a range/melee human now and one of the things I need is dex. I hear people say that I should do refine but I saw Weaving and how much dex it gives you. Now my question is which is the easiest to do? And while I was typing this post I thought about my future spirit weapon. Should I just I continue on getting a sword spirit weapon or try for a bow spirit weapon?

I know it sounds like I'm obsessing over range Squealblush

...well I'm not. Just want to have another combat style. I don't want to be just a melee chick...I want to be a melee/range chick A chance!!

Oh and all the information I was analyzing was off of Mabinogi Wiki, here's the two links:

Well I may not be the most informed, but Weaving does indeed have the better dex to AP ratio but it's best not to rank that first. A large majority of Refining exp comes from failing, so the lower the dex the easier it is to rank refine without wasting too many materials (even still the success percent is like 55%). Also Weaving is several times more painful than refining in the long run.. So it'd be in your best interests to rank Refine first.

If I'm wrong well Beefie could always explain it better than me What?

Dex doesn't just help your range, it boosts your balance meaning you'll be a better melee overall if you increase dex anyways x3

Yes, refine is first because weaving can't be done without 200+ base dex and r1 Prod Mastery, as Beef once told me.

weaving is a 1.048 radio(ap to dex), next is handicraft at 0.875, then refining at .679. But rank refine first. Refining requires fails to train it. Higher dex = high success rate. So high dex = harder time refining. All the other life skills u need a high dex to rank. Ranking weaving to r1 with only 50-200 dex is next to impossible.

As far as which is harder, Weaving to about 10x harder then refine was at 250dex. Handicraft is mega easy until rA'ish when u need r9+ blacksmithing to make the crazy enough of iron bars needed to train it.
